Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. This was a very natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish heritage, who was nurtured in her early years by talented family members and parents. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. Her family was her parents as well as family members. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and was also the owner of the famous Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came second from a family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very proficient at it. The combination of this natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. This is why she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her country of birth. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she pursued her dreams of operatic as well as classical theatre and singing.
